Family Planning

The Trust's Family Planning (Contraceptive) service provides completely free and confidential clinics and support to people of all ages.


To access advice on contraception, queue and wait sessions are available. These sessions are open to people of all ages.

Mondays

Wednesdays

People attending queue and wait sessions will be seen on a first come first served basis; the number of people seen varies from day to day. If the queue and wait session becomes full it will close before the advertised time. You can then either attend the next queue and wait session or make an appointment (see Contact us).

Appointment clinics are both nurse and doctor led services and are open to all age groups. You may be asked to return for further review/treatment.

Contraception

Contraceptive services provide first line and re-issue of contraception and offer advice, support and information regarding any aspect of contraception. The following contraceptive methods are provided:

  • Contraceptive pills, patches, injections and implants.
  • IUD and Mirena IUS (Coils)
  • Emergency Contraception (Morning After Pill).
  • Condoms (Including C-Card)

Referral for Termination of Pregnancy (Abortion)

Women attending Contraceptive Services requesting a termination can be referred to the Termination of Pregnancy Assessment Clinic directly from Contraceptive Services.

Pregnancy Options Advisor

Pregnancy Options Advisors provide help and support with pregnancy decision making.

Young Person's Contraceptive Nurse

The Young Person's Contraceptive Nurse works closely with young people to provide contraceptive advice and support. Links with schools and colleges to provide sexual health education and advice.

Complex Contraception

This service is for women with a range of problems including hormonal, medical gynaecology and complex contraceptive issues.
