How to pay

We have a new ‘pay on exit’ system at Sunderland Royal Hospital, Sunderland Eye Infirmary and at The Children’s Centre on Durham Road, making it much simpler for you to pay for parking at the end of your visit. If you are a regular visitor you may wish to purchase a discounted monthly permit.

The new ‘pay on exit’ kiosks will be situated near to all main entrances on the Sunderland Royal site, as well as at Sunderland Eye Infirmary and The Children’s Centre on Durham Road. Using the latest touch screen technology, you will be given multiple payment options, including the ability to pay by coins and notes, or to pay by card or contactless.

You will be asked to input your registration details. If you input them incorrectly please contact security immediately at Main Reception, Kayll Road.

Parking Charge Notice (PCN)

Cars not parked in an authorised bay or parked without paying the correct tariff or permit will be issued with a PCN. There is a facility to pay your parking fees on exit from the car park.

ParkingEye

Car parking is monitoring using the ParkingEye system. It utilises number plate recognition technology to capture the number plates of all vehicles entering and exiting the City Hospitals Sunderland sites. Photographic evidence is then coupled with the timing of the vehicles within the car parks, as well as any payments made using the pay machines or Pay by Phone services, resulting in an accurate picture of car park usage. Parking charges are generated and issued to those motorists parked inappropriately or who are in breach of terms and conditions, such as non-payment.
