Introduction

The Neurology Department provides in-patient, out-patient and day case services to the local population of Sunderland and South Tyneside, managing a wide range of Neurological conditions.

The Neurophysiology Department carries out a wide range of investigations including EEG (monitors brain wave patterns to detect conditions such as Epilepsy), NCS (nerve conduction studies to detect conditions such as Carpel Tunnel Syndrome) and Video Telemetry.

There are 3 specialist nurses who specifically care for patients with Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease.

The neuro rehabilitation service carries out ongoing care for patients with Neurological conditions including brain injury and Stroke.
