There is a national body to steer counter fraud activity called NHS Protect which includes a national team of investigators. At a local level, Local Counter Fraud Specialists (LCFS) are tasked to prevent, detect and investigate NHS frauds at Trust level. The LCFS reports directly to the Executive Director of Finance.
